                                  The Seven Principles

Federalism - Division of power between the Federal Government and the States . The powers divided between the Federal Government and the state , limiting the Central Power .

The Separation of Powers - The Constitution divides the government into three branches :

  • Legislative Branch -  Makes Laws
  • Executive Branch - Carries out Laws
  • Judicial Branch - Explains and interprets the laws
As stated in The Constitution , the government is divided into three branches , each having responsibilities and limitations.

Individual Rights - Unalienable rights guaranteed to all citizens. The Constitution protects individual rights such as:
  • Freedom-o-Speech
  • Freedom-o-Religion
  • Freedom-to-Bare Arms
Republicanism - Citizens elect representatives to carry out their will. Voters hold the sovereign power and elect representatives to exercise the power for them.

Popular Sovereignty - The authority of The Government is created and sustained by the consent of it's people. People are the source of all power. We rule The Government ; The Government follows what we say.

Checks and Blances - Each of the three branches of The Government can limit the powers of the other two. No one branch can be too powerful. Each one of the branches "checks" the other two and keeps the "balance" of power intact.

Limited Government - Limited Government gives the citizens more control on how the Government is shaped . Includes local environment and policy. This principle also states that the government is limited to certain things :
  • No one member of government can stay part of the government too long/exceeding their term.
  • No one member of government can be elected more than a number of times ( depends on the part and job of the government.
  • One's name ( of the member of government ) can not be put up for election after they've reached their limited term.

Its Tuesday and I have yet to see any work by your group. Let me be clear, this is NOT what PreAP students are supposed to be doing (slacking). You have had two weekend days as well as two snow days to rest, play, and also catch up on work. Your grade is based on not only submitting your blog but your participation, expectations are high.
